A Fresh Coat of Paint

The ‘new’ web site that I have been discussing for quite some time is finally finished… well nearly finished anyway. While the design looks quite similar to the previous at first glance, much has changed, inside and out.

Things you will notice

  • The overall design is much easier on the eyes and thus easier to read.
  • A Conduct Policy has been added to be used in conjunction with the Code of Conduct to better help in dealing with issues on server (whether or not it actually gets used is another story, but it’s there if Tristan wants to use it).
  • A Tournament Rules page has been added to clear up any confusion on those ‘unwritten’ rules people complained about for years. Now you have no excuse for being uninformed.
  • All event pages have been updated to reflect changes in those tournaments or to make the rules more clear so that there is no more confusion. Pay particular attention to the World Title Tournament rules page. There are several new items you will want to look for.
  • The rules for the 24/7 title as well as the rules for the 24/7 title tournament when vacant have been added to a page under “Events” to eliminate the confusion with that.
  • The Code of Conduct and the Privacy Policy pages have been updated. Don’t say I didn’t give you warning.
  • The “Match Rules” pages have been updated and or added if any were missing.
  • A frequently asked questions (FAQ) page has been added that will hopefully address some of the questions you may have. Please read it before feeding your urge to contact support.
  • The mIRC stats have not been updated in forever. Sorry, I no longer have access to the logs on Ref to update them.
  • Pages can now be accessed by a more familiar name (i.e., /contact-support/) instead of something such as: /?p=4832749. That will make it not only easier for the user but also make it easier for search engines.
  • You can now comment on the posts (provided the author has allowed comments; they are not allowed by default. Tristan may decide to change this).
  • You can also comment without registering. However, your comments should still adhere to the Code of Conduct. Also, it would be a good idea to use your server username if you have one so we know who we are talking to.

Things you may or may not notice

  • The web site is now web standards compliant. It should look similar in modern browsers as well as most older ones as early as Internet Explorer 6. I did not bother with anything older than that. Really could have done without bothering with it too for that matter, but oh well.
  • The web site is also accessible according to Section 108 standards. Check Google if you are not sure what that is.
  • The source code is cleaner and semantic. This makes things easier for everyone. It will also help with search engine indexing.
  • There is now a print-specific style sheet, which will make printed pages look better, utilizing serif fonts, etc.
  • The web site is linked to Google Analytics which can be beneficial and should have been done a long time ago.
  • I am bored out of my damn mind.

Things you will not notice

  • Buy Icons
  • Community Forum

Yeah I know. I am working on it. The icons are not of great importance so I have neglected to add those pages at this time. Look for them in the near future. The forum should be completed shortly, either in this lifetime or the next.

Feel free to comment

If you have a comment to add regarding the web site itself, the post, or some error you have run across, by all means do so. If you just want to say hi, by all means do that too. However, I ask that you refrain from posting support related questions here, though I know you are itching to do so. I cannot help you most likely; besides, those that can probably will not read it anyway.

Good luck. Have fun. Peace out. :P
